According to reports, Tom Holland is not set to reprise his role as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in Spider-man Freshman Year. Announced on Disney+ Day last year, the animated series came alongside news of Marvel Studios’ continued animation development with X-Men ’97, Marvel Zombies, and Season 2 of What If…?
Spider-man Freshman Year is set to chronicle the events before Spider-Man’s debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with his appearance in Captain America: Civil War. The series is set to explore more of the web-slinger’s comic book origin stories, a part of the character that has been hinted at but largely missing from the MCU. Despite being a prequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming, Tom Holland will not be lending his voice to the project amidst uncertainty about the actor’s future in the MCU.
More information regarding Spider-man Freshman Year and other Marvel Studios developments is expected to be revealed at the studio’s Animation panel at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con.
