Desus & Mero will not be returning for a fifth season, Showtime confirmed after much speculation.
In a statement, the network revealed that hosts Desus Nice and The Kid Mero will be parting way to pursue “separate creative endeavors moving forward.” The network continued, “Showtime’s late-night talk show Desus & Mero will not be returning for a fifth season. Its final episode aired Thursday, June 23.”
Rumors of the show’s demise hit its apex last week when Mero reportedly wrote that their famed podcast, which has been inactive since November 2021, is also done for. “PODCAST DONE ENJOY THE BACK CATALOG MY PALS,” the co-host commented. Meanwhile, Desus replied to a fan on Twitter who responded to the screenshot of Mero’s comment and wrote, “the hive deserved better than this ending. Reddit can slander my name but when the truth comes out…..actually just wait.”
The show’s fourth and final season only ran for a total of 15 episodes with Derek Jeter as their final guest. This proved to be much shorter compared to its previous seasons, which ran between 45 to 60 episodes.
