Phoebe Bridgers appeared on The Beat with Ari Melber today, discussing her vocal stance on women’s rights and abortion. Bridgers noted that one dollar from each of her ticket sales is being donated to the Mariposa Fund, an abortion fund in Santa Fe, New Mexico. “I hate that the responsibility has been thrown on these grassroots organizations, instead of the government,” she told Melber. The Punisher singer also discussed the dynamic of creating during the pandemic. Check it all out below.
In May, Bridgers shared her own abortion story on Twitter, encouraging followers to donate to abortion funds. Last October, she shared a Bo Burnham cover in support of abortion funds in Texas.
Bridgers recently appeared on the soundtrack to Minions: The Rise of Gru; last September she had a track on the Metallica covers album The Metallica Blacklist. She released Punisher and the Copycat Killer EP in 2020.
