Apple’s Forthcoming Extreme Sport Watch Rumored to Feature a Larger Two-inch Display

The long-awaited and anticipated extreme sports Series 8 Apple Watch might just become the tech giant’s largest smartwatch to date.

In a new report from industry insider Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, Gurman has claimed that the extreme sports wearable will measure approximately two-inches diagonally and feature a 410 by 502 resolution. Currently, Apple‘s largest smartwatch is the 45mm Series 7. If rumors are true, the new Series 8 extreme sport watch would give wearers 7% more screen real estate which Gurman alludes to allowing Apple to add more fitness metrics and increase the information on its watch face in one go.

In order to ensure durability, the extreme sports watch will reportedly use a stronger metal material as opposed to the normal aluminum and feature a more shatter-resistant screen. Similar to the standard Series 8 watch, the extreme sport version will feature some other functional similarities including tracking metrics like body temperature and detecting a fever. It was first reported by Bloomberg that Apple was planning on expanding its lineup of Apple Watches. It remains to be seen if the model will come to fruition.
