Alex G has announced his next studio album, God Save the Animals. The follow-up to 2019’s House of Sugar arrives September 23 via Domino. The prolific singer, songwriter, and producer has also shared the LP’s latest single, “Runner,” along with a music video shot by Aldo Fisk. Watch Alex G perform alongside his bandmates—guitarist Sam Acchione, keyboardist Molly Germer, bassist John Heywood, and drummer Tom Kelly—in the clip below.
God Save the Animals includes the single “Blessing,” which came out last month. In keeping with his longtime process, Alex G wrote and demoed the songs on God Save the Animals alone at home. Then, to engage in “a routine that was outside of [his] apartment,” as he put it in press materials, he enlisted several engineers at multiple studios throughout greater Philadelphia to help achieve a heightened recording quality. God Save the Animals was co-produced by Jacob Portrait.
Alex G recently announced a headlining North American tour that kicks off this fall after a string of dates in Europe this August. The trek includes support from Barrie, Hatchie, and Sadurn.
