It’s been a long time since last season’s fashion month in February and March. So you could forgive us for not remembering every little detail. However, there was one item that made a real lasting impact: Gucci’s new it bag.
When Alessandro Michele presented his latest collection back in March almost every look featured the iconic Jackie bag, which means this bag is set to be the next cult accessory from the Italian fashion house.
If you recognise the name, then it’s probably because technically this bag isn’t new. The handbag was initially named after Jackie Kennedy and has been a hero Gucci item for years but it’s been relaunched with a bit of a makeover. The Jackie 2.0 has the signature shoulder strap and gold clasp across the body of the handbag, but instead of using statement logo or floral prints, these Jackies were all in simple buttery-soft leather. The colour palette also isn’t quite so quiet, as you’ll find the new bags are in powder blues, lilacs and rosy pinks. (Mr Harry Styles will certainly approve.)
While there’s a more traditional version available to buy right now, in the iconic Gucci logo print, you can ensure you get hold of the other bolder colours for pre-order on the Gucci site. This rerelease is certain to increase the value of any original vintage Jackies, but right now, you can find dozens of them on resale sites like Vestiaire Collective or Farfetch. If you want a Jackie, now is the time to buy a vintage version, as I’ve also found a few for under £300.
