With the release window for Sonic Frontiers still some time away, SEGA has now announced an animated prologue for the long-awaited platformer. The reveal was made during the gaming company’s Sonic Central livestream event where it showed off a quick snippet of Knuckles standing in front of and seemingly protecting the Master Emerald in the midst of a storm.
While other details revolving around Sonic Frontiers Prologue remain scarce at the moment, the animated project will no doubt set up the premise for the upcoming game. No release date has been provided yet either, but it’ll probably come out before the game itself, which is currently slated to arrive this holiday season.
Sonic Frontiers aside, SEGA also took the opportunity to highlight some of the other Sonic the Hedgehog projects currently in the works, including the Sonic Origins collection of classic Sonic games, the remastered series of Sonic the Hedgehog games, and the upcoming 3D animated Netflix series Sonic Prime, which offered a first look at Shadow blasting through Green Hill Zone.
For fans of the blue speedster, you can check out the announcements from Sonic Central up above.
Elsewhere in gaming, CAPCOM’s Resident Evil 4 remake has finally received a release date.
