According to reports, Mariah Carey has been served a copyright infringement lawsuit for her Christmas hit “All I Want For Christmas Is You.” Reports note that the songstress is being sued by musician Andy Stone for $20 million USD in damages.
Stone’s lawsuit claims that Mariah Carey never asked for permission to use the title “All I Want For Christmas Is You.” Back in 1989, five years before the release of Carey’s classic (1994), Stone released “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” which made it to the Billboard charts during the Christmas season of 1993. It is important to note that the two songs only share the same title with completely different lyrics and melodies.
