In an interesting turn of events, it was announced that legendary ’60s band Pink Floyd will be joining TikTok.
A press release confirmed that the progressive rock band’s catalog is now globally available on the short-form video platform, giving users access to the official Pink Floyd sounds from all tracks across the English group’s 15 studio albums. Content creators can utilize their music for their own TikTok video creations, including but not limited to “See Emily Play,” “Money,” “Another Brick in the Wall (Part II),” “Comfortably Numb,” “Wish You Were Here” and “High Hopes.”
In addition, Pink Floyd will be sharing their unique video content on TikTok, however the extent of the involvement of its living current and past members — David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Roger Waters — was not specified. “Throughout the band’s long and distinguished career, Pink Floyd has always used spectacular visuals and their introduction to the TikTok platform will see them extend their reach digitally,” the press release reads.
Pink Floyd’s entry to TikTok also marks an important moment in the band’s history, as they began recording their 1973 album The Dark Side of the Moon on May 30, 1972.
Elsewhere in music, Harry Styles’ Harry’s House logged the biggest debut week of 2022 so far with half a million first-week sales.
