Artists took over Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena on Sunday evening for the 2022 Billboard Music Awards. Hosted by Diddy, who also served as the opening act for the event, the night celebrated the standout music released over the past year.
Following Diddy’s performance, Jack Harlow rapped his hit track “First Class” and Silk Sonic offered its take on Con Funk Shun’s 1982 single “Love’s Train.”
Competing in the category with The Weeknd, Doja Cat, Olivia Rodrigo, and Taylor Swift, Drake reigned supreme as Billboard’s Top Artist of the Year. He also won in the categories Top Male Artist and Top Rap Artist, as well as Top Rap Male Artist.
Megan Thee Stallion secured the place of Top Rap Female Artist, a category that also included Cardi B and Latto as nominees.
Doja Cat, meanwhile, won the spot of Top R&B Artist and Top R&B Female Artist, while The Weeknd followed as the Top R&B Male Artist.
The Top Rap Tour of 2021 went to Omarion and Bow Wow for their Millennium Tour.
Elsewhere in music, BTS was determined to be the Top Duo/Group, as well as the group with the Top Song Sales of the year.
Additional winners at the ceremony included Bad Bunny, Glass Animals, Rodrigo, Swift and more.
In other music news, Kendrick Lamar’s Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers is looking to earn the biggest opening week of 2022.
