Leikeli47 has released her third studio album, Shape Up, executive produced by Harold Lilly. Following 2017’s Wash & Set and 2018’s Acrylic, the album is the final installment of her “Beauty Series” trilogy and the first full-length project that she’s put out in four years.
The rapper shared her first single off of the LP in February. In an accompanying music video for the single, entitled “BITM,” Leikeli and others pay tribute to the New York ballroom scene with a montage of them vogueing.
Additional songs on the 14-track album include the previously-released “Chitty Bang” and the rhythmic “Secret Service.”
On “Jay Walk,” Leikeli collaborated with American runway icon Miss J Alexander, who chimes in between the rapper’s spitfire bars to offer instructions for the catwalk, commanding “left foot, right foot.”
Other standouts on the project are the slowed-down R&B single “Hold My Hand” and the LP’s bonus track “Instant Classic.”
“Shape Up truly feels like my first album. It’s the craziest feeling,” Leikeli said about the new project. “I feel like this is my first time out and no one knows me. I’m finally about to embark on a journey where I’m diving into my fans and they’re diving into me. It’s a fun process.”
