“First Class” singer Jack Harlow recently stopped by Hot 97’s Ebro in the Morning to talk about his sophomore studio album, Come Home the Kids Miss You and subsequently, the most recent leaked collaborative track with Drake.
In the interview, Harlow confirmed that the Drake-collab track, “Churchill Downs,” will be featured on his new album. He also shared that the leak bothered him a great deal and that the snippet that surfaced online was not the finished product. The official track will hear a new verse from the Louisville rapper. In regards to the leak Harlow said, “It hurt my feelings. I’m really tight about leaks. I don’t bounce my music so I haven’t had leaks in a long time.” He also added, “I don’t write to my music while I’m working on an album, like it stays in hard…The only time we get to experience it is in the studio. I don’t export demos because then you have…because you write to it and you can’t change it because you get addicted to a verse…and I don’t want no leaks.”
Harlow also shared the advice Drake gave him regarding the mishap after he explained that this was particularly disappointing to him because, “That’s an idol of mine. I wanted to control that moment… but, it’s destiny.” Drake, although “sad” it happened, appeared less bothered and told the 24-year-old rapper, “He kind of, you know, nudged me like, ‘Aye, don’t trip. This was meant to happen.’ I think [with] his experience, he let me know like, ‘You think this is going to affect your life? Like it’s fine.’” Harlow also revealed that he did feel “the energy shift” when people found out he was hanging out with Drake.
Come Home the Kids Miss You is expected to feature big names including Lil Wayne, Pharrell, Justin Timberlake and of course, Drake. Check out the tracklist below and stay tuned for the release date.
