FKA twigs Has Trial Date Set in Shia LaBeouf Civil Case

At the end of 2020, FKA twigs filed a lawsuit against Shia LeBeouf. She alleged “relentless abuse,” sexual battery, assault, and emotional distress. In a hearing today, a Los Angeles court set a jury trial date for the case, as Rolling Stone reports. It’s slated for April 17, 2023. When contacted by Pitchfork, a representative for FKA twigs offered no comment. Pitchfork has also reached out to representatives for Shia LeBeouf.

“What I went through with Shia was the worst thing I’ve ever been through in the whole of my life,” FKA twigs told The New York Times in late 2020. “I don’t think people would ever think that it would happen to me. But I think that’s the thing. It can happen to anybody.” She further discussed instances of abuse in a February 2021 interview with Gayle King on CBS.

“I’m not in any position to tell anyone how my behavior made them feel,” LaBeouf wrote in an email to The Times in late 2020. “I have no excuses for my alcoholism or aggression, only rationalizations. I have been abusive to myself and everyone around me for years. I have a history of hurting the people closest to me. I’m ashamed of that history and am sorry to those I hurt. There is nothing else I can really say.”
