Fantastic Beasts: Secrets of Dumbledore has continued to hit an all-time franchise-low despite its overall No. 1 ranking internationally for the third consecutive weekend.
In its third weekend, the film captured $3.4 million USD in the global IMAX box office, pushing its total to $18.7 million USD. In North America, it made $1.6 million at IMAX box office with international IMAX numbers hitting $1.8 million USD to push the global sum to $12 million USD. It is unsurprising that the film has not captured the attention of fans after the creator J.K. Rowling‘s public attack against the trans community. The film also features Ezra Miller, who recently found himself in hot waters and was arrested in Hawaii for assaulting a woman.
The series also saw a major shift after the franchise replaced the former start Johnny Depp with Mads Mikkelson. With the low box office, it appears that the Harry Potter spin-off franchise is nearing an end. The downfall of the series has been hit by a series of COVID-19 factors but due to the poor reputation of its actors and creator, fans have clearly shown that they are no longer willing to stand by and support the film. It remains to be seen if Fantastic Beasts will continue on in the future or if this will be the last of the series.
In other entertainment news, Johnny Depp has said he will not return to the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.
