After more than five years since Splatoon 2 came out on the Nintendo Switch, we’re finally getting a release date for Splatoon 3.
The long-awaited sequel for the third-person shooter is now scheduled to arrive this September, escaping the delays that have hit another highly-anticipated sequel for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Much like its predecessors, the new installment will focus on Inklings and Octolings as the two try to cover as much of the arena as possible in their own squad’s paint color.
You can expect new weapons, special abilities and characters for the upcoming release as well as a single-player campaign and a co-op mode called Salmon Run, where you’ll fight off oncoming waves of Salmonoids to earn Power Eggs and Golden Eggs. As seen in the clip above, there’ll also be mechs you can jump into and control for even more effective splatting.
For fans of the franchise, Splatoon 3 will arrive on September 9, and pre-orders for the digital version are now live over on Nintendo’s website for $60 USD.
Elsewhere in gaming, Ubisoft has officially announced its upcoming team battle arena, codenamed Project Q.
