Sega has officially confirmed the release of its multi-game collection Sonic Origins. The collection is set to feature digital remasters of some of Sonic’s most iconic games including the original Sonic The Hedgehog and its sequel, Sonic 3 & Knuckles and Sonic CD.
Sonic Origins will also feature two different play modes, Classic and Anniversary. In Classic Mode players will be able to experience the original game presentation, playing with the traditional finite live and game over style. However, the Anniversary Mode is an updated version that gives players an infinite number of lives and no game-overs. The new collection also features new in-game missions and challenges for players to unlock.
The game is set to release on Sonic’s birthday this June and will be made available across various consoles including the PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC and Nintendo Switch. A “Digital Deluxe” version is also available to pre-order alongside other bonus adventures. Look out for Sonic Origins dropping on June 23. The announcement comes after the release of Paramount Pictures‘ Sonic the Hedgehog 2 film.
