Following the official debut of One Piece Film: Red last November which revealed the involvement of the legendary pirate Shanks and a mysterious new female character, One Piece now drops a second teaser trailer unveiling the identity of the unknown figure.
“Her name is Uta, the world’s greatest diva, Her voice will change the whole world,” the trailer writes in the opening headlines. The video further reveals that Uta, the world’s most beloved singer in the world, is in fact Shanks’ daughter.
Uta is set to hold a live concert in front of the public for the first time with a massive venue full of pirates and the navy in attendance. Her singing voice, which is described as from “another dimension,” seems to hold more power than providing mere entertainment, and Luffy appears alarmed saying, “If he knows his daughter is doing this, Shanks won’t keep quiet!”
“Listen Uta, there is no peace or equality in this world,” Shanks says at the end of the video.
The upcoming movie is supervised by One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda and directed by Goro Taniguchi whose other works include Mobile Suit Gundam and Code Geass.
One Piece Film: RED, the franchise’s 15th film, will premiere in Japan on August 6, 2022 with international showings to follow.
Elsewhere in entertainment, Makoto Shinkai’s new film Suzume no Tojimari receives a premiere date.
