Pusha T sits down with Charlamagne Tha God for an intimate conversation talking details surrounding inspirations and career progression.
In the almost 55 minute interview, King Push dives into working with key people in the industry and his relationship with people like Kanye West and Pharrell. At the beginning of the interview, Push discusses working with Ye and Pharrell on his upcoming new mixtape It’s Almost Dry. Ye and 88-Keys produced “Diet Coke,” while “Neck & Wrist” was produced by Pharrell. Push claims that he can “confidently say” that his particular album, with help of the contributions of these two producers, has allowed him to produce his “best body of work.” He adds,
“I feel like, you know, I had the best of both worlds in regards to production and in regards to two people that actually understand who I am and they like two different things from me that I feel are both really great.
Just from that aspect, I just feel like, man, this body of work is untouchable because it doesn’t lean too heavy on either side. It’s like, you get the whole spectrum. Probably my most well-rounded body of work.”
Push also noted how much Pharrell’s feedback on “Hear Me Clearly” meant to him and how it “impacted [the album] a lot.” He also explained how the collaboration with JAY-Z came about, “I treat the whole situation very delicately.” He adds, “I reach out to him when I feel like there’s absolutely nothing else great I can say on this record, and the only person who can give the record an uptick is somebody who I can’t say what they can say. I can’t speak what Hov speaks. I’m not there.” When discussing his involvement with “Neck & Wrist,” Push simply said that he “didn’t hear anybody else for it.
