Muni Long’s ‘Hrs and Hrs’ Hits No. 1 on R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay

Muni Long’s ‘Hrs and Hrs’ Hits No. 1 on R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay

Muni Long’s “Hrs and Hrs” hits No. 1 on Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart, advancing from No. 3 to lead the list dated April 9.

The new champ’s coronation comes just two weeks after Muni Long’s independent label, Supergiant, announced a partnership deal with Def Jam Recordings. With Def Jam’s credit addition, “Hrs and Hrs” secures the label’s first R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay No. 1 in nearly six years, since Desiigner’s “Panda” reigned for two weeks in June 2016.

“Hrs and Hrs” ascends after it climbed to 20 million in radio audience and registered the highest listenership of any song from U.S. monitored R&B/hip-hop stations in the week ending March 31, according to Luminate, formerly MRC Data. The new champ improved 14% from a 17.6 million audience total in the prior week (ending March 24), securing it the weekly Greatest Gainer prize among the chart’s 50 titles.

“Hrs and Hrs” first drew widespread attention through TikTok, which fueled the track to millions of streams. The song shot to No. 5 on the Streaming Songs chart in January and topped the R&B Streaming Songs chart for 11 weeks in January – March. Its radio journey started with its No. 42 debut on R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay on the chart dated Jan. 22 and quickly kicked into high gear, reaching the top 10 in just six weeks. Between the streaming and radio success, “Hrs and Hrs” peaked at No. 4 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and at No. 16 on the Billboard Hot 100, which both factor in streaming, radio, and sales into their calculations.

Elsewhere, “Hrs and Hrs” repeats at its No. 7 high on Rhythmic Airplay for a second straight week after it gained 4% in plays at the format in the week ending April 3. Radio strength at both R&B/hip-hop and rhythmic formats help the song crack the top 25 for the first time on the overall Radio Songs chart. There, it climbs 6% in weekly audience to 24.9 million in the week ending April 1.
