To mark the 25th-anniversary of the Pokémon anime series, the franchise took to Twitter to share a promotional video celebrating its long-standing run. Debuted in Japan on April 1, 1997, the anime recently received a one-hour special to commemorate the anniversary.
The clip focuses on Ash Ketchum, known as Satoshi in Japan, and his journey throughout the show’s span. Starting his adventure in the Kanto Region’s Pallet Town, Ash traveled the Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova and Kalos regions to achieve his dream of becoming a Pokémon Master. Aside from meeting friends along his way, Ash also caught an array of Pokémon, which are highlighted in the video.
It is important to note that the video features the anime’s first opening theme song “Mezase Pokémon Master” by Rica Matsumoto, the Japanese voice actress for Ash.
