Back in October, KAWS took to Instagram to tease a special toy collaboration with the popular Japanese children’s show, Gachapin and Mukku. The series of videos featured the artist exchanging letters with the two characters stating that he would be sending them a toy inspired by their show.
Having first debuted KACHAMUKKU at his Japanese exhibition, KAWS TOKYO FIRST, the artist is set to release the long-awaited vinyl toys at his online shop today. The hybrid figure features both furry characters fused with one another in a simplified body frame with KAWS’s signature crossbones in the head and ‘X’ eyes. The first iteration stays faithful to the look and feel of the popular TV series, while the second is dressed in an all black palette that bodes well with KAWS past releases.
KACHAMUKKU will release today at 12 EDT on KAWSONE.
Elsewhere in art, Gagosian opened a new boutique in the heart of London.
