While traditionally known for its top-of-the-line fans and vacuums, Dyson has ventured into a variety of new fields as of late, including lighting through its Lightcycle Morph series and haircare with its Airwrap Styler kits and powerful hairdryers.
For its latest innovation, Dyson introduces its first wearable device that doubles as an air purifier and high-fidelity headphones. Dubbed the “Dyson Zone™,” the headpiece simultaneously delivers immersive sound through ANC over-ear headphones while directing purified air to the nose and mouth through a contact-free visor.
The Dyson Zone™ was created by the Dyson team to tackle the common urban issues of air quality and noise pollution, citing unhealthy levels of air pollution in London and other global cities. Serving as a replacement for traditional contact masks, precision-engineered compressors housed within the earcups draw air through dual-layer filters, capturing “captures 99% of particle pollution as small as 0.1 microns, such as dust, pollen, and bacteria.”
Through extensive listening trials led by Dyson’s audio engineers, the Dyson Zone™ comes equipped with an advanced noise cancellation system and neodymium electroacoustic system delivering wide frequency response, precise left-right balance, low distortion, and rich uninterrupted sound.
Adjustable settings include four air purification modes, three ANC modes, and the option to remove the purification visor to be replaced by a standard FFP2-compliant face covering.
The Dyson Zone will be available online and in select Dyson stores across the world beginning in Spring 2022. Prices and exact dates will be announced in the coming months and a full breakdown and introductory videos can be found on Dyson’s website.
