Silk Sonic have been added to the slate of performers at the Grammys this weekend. They’ll open the show at this year’s ceremony in Las Vegas, ahead of other appearances by Billie Eilish, BTS, Olivia Rodrigo, Lil Nas X, John Legend, J Balvin with Maria Becerra, and Carrie Underwood.
According to a report from Variety, the ceremony will also feature a tribute to late Foo Fighters’ drummer Taylor Hawkins, who died last week at the age of 50. Days before Hawkins’ death, Foo Fighters were named in a new batch of Grammy performers slated for this year’s ceremony. The band has not commented on the performance, but a new press release does not include Foo Fighters in the official list of Grammy performers. The band recently canceled all of their upcoming tour dates in the wake of Hawkins’ death. The Grammys ceremony starts on Sunday, April 3, at 8 p.m. Eastern.
Anderson .Paak and Bruno Mars made their TV debut as Silk Sonic at last year’s Grammys, performing “Leave the Door Open” after an elaborate, jokey campaign to get on the show. They’re nominated for four awards this year, with “Leave the Door Open” up for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best R&B Performance, and Best R&B Song.
