Kacey Musgraves, Willie Nelson and Family, and Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit will headline the inaugural Palomino Festival, which will be held July 9 at Brookside at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. The event is the brainchild of promoters Goldenvoice, the same team behind the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival and its beloved country-leaning companion, Stagecoach.
Also on the bill for the festival are Turnpike Troubadours, Orville Peck, Old Crow Medicine Show, Valerie June, Charley Crockett, Paul Cauthen, Nikki Lane, Morgan Wade, Sierra Ferrell, Langhorne Slim, Amythyst Kiah, Sierra Hull, Low Cut Connie, Jamie Wyatt, Ian Noe, Logan Ledger and The Compton Cowboys.
Musgraves recently teamed with Goldenvoice parent AEG for a North American arena tour, her largest to date, in support of her latest album, star-crossed. Her eclectic sound, which has won her multiple Grammys but has never been fully embraced by country radio, seems to be a model of sorts for the artists on the Palomino lineup.
“It has been a dream for as long as I can remember to do a festival taking a modern, fresh approach to today’s alt-country music,” says Goldenvoice talent buyer Stacy Vee, who also oversees Stagecoach. “Artists in the space have been pushing boundaries [and] creating sounds that are brand new. I wanted to fan these flames and celebrate this changing culture.”
