Phife Dawg’s LP Forever has finally arrived. Released by AWAL in partnership with the late rapper’s estate, the album lands on the sixth anniversary of his death.
Forever follows Phife Dawg’s solo debut studio album, Ventilation: Da LP. At the time of his death in 2016, the A Tribe Called Quest rapper was working with his groupmates on We Got It from Here… Thank You 4 Your Service.
Measuring nearly an hour, the project comprises 13 tracks, including the previously released title track “Forever,” as well as “Nutshell Part 2” featuring Busta Rhymes and Redman and “French Kiss Trois” featuring Illa J.
The album packs in additional bars from Q-Tip, Rapsody, Maseo, Dwele, Little Brother and more. On the production side, 9th Wonder, V Rich, Rasta Root, Nottz, Khrysis and J Dilla are among those that worked on the project.
Forever also includes a special guest appearance from Phife Dawg’s mother, the accomplished poet Cheryl Boyce-Taylor.
