Charli XCX has delivered her fifth studio album, CRASH.
Clocking in at just a little over half an hour, the 12-track record features guest appearances from Caroline Polachek, Christine and the Queens and Rina Sawayama, along with additional collaborative work from A. G. Cook, George Daniel, Deaton Chris Anthony, Lotus IV, Oscar Holter, Digital Farm Animals, Ian Kirkpatrik, Jason Evigan, Justin Raisen, Ariel Rechtshaid, Ilya, Oneohtrix Point Never, Jon Shave and Mike Wise. “I was able to possess and persuade an incredible group of producers and collaborators to contribute to CRASH by using my femme fatale powers and a multitude of dark spells and curses,” Charli XCX shared in a statement. “They will all remain locked in my basement forever.”
“I’m so proud of this album and I’m proud of the journey that I’ve been on to get to this album because I do think it’s a very unique journey. I was just talking about this in the car on the way over here with my managers. It’s very like, “Whoa, what’s next?” You know? In such a massive way for me right now and I’m sure all artists go through these phases in their life where a lot of things are like coming to an end at the same time. It’s more just… I think I love it. Not to quote myself, but I do,” she told Zane Lowe on Apple Music. “I’m really enjoying where I’m at and I really deserve the things that I’m getting but I suppose it’s coupled with a point in time where I’m about to make many business decisions that will possibly go on to affect the next era, not just of music, but of my life. You know?”
