Grimes and Elon Musk Had a Second Child, Exa Dark Sideræl Musk, in December 2021

Grimes and Elon Musk Had a Second Child, Exa Dark Sideræl Musk, in December 2021

Grimes and the billionaire Elon Musk had a second child this past December, a baby girl named Exa Dark Sideræl Musk, Vanity Fair reports. Grimes said she wanted to keep most details of her daughter’s life private, identifying her only as Y, but eventually revealed the full name to the writer, Devin Gordon.

Grimes said her difficult pregnancy with her and Musk’s first child, X Æ A-12, or X, prompted the parents to have their second child via surrogate. “I hemorrhaged,” she said. “It was scary.”

Last year, Musk told Time that the couple was “semi-separated,” but Grimes said the relationship remains in flux. “I would probably refer to him as my boyfriend, but we’re very fluid. We live in separate houses. We’re best friends. We see each other all the time,” she said. “We just have our own thing going on, and I don’t expect other people to understand it.” She added that they want “at least three or four” children.

On Twitter, Grimes wrote, “ I did this to speak abt my work, not ‘reveal all’ haha.  Def held back a lot, contrary 2 headline.  & didn’t mean for them 2 find out about my daughter so please respect her privacy as I’d love her to be able to live as private of a life as possible 🤍.”

She added, “Me and E have broken up *again* since the writing of this article haha, but he’s my best friend and the love of my life, and my life and art are forever dedicated to The Mission now, I think Devin wrote that part of the story rly well.”

Grimes is working on a new LP, tentatively titled Book 1, which she said features a collaboration with the Weeknd and Illangelo called “Sci-Fi.” She announced Book 1 in January with the single “Shinigami Eyes.” At the time, she was also said to be preparing an EP titled Fairies Cum First, described in a press release as a “prelude” to her album. (The EP was not mentioned in the Vanity Fair article.) Book 1, according to Vanity Fair, “is Grimes’s Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, with a hint of Lemonade, and it was partly inspired by a theory of Musk’s: that she’s a simulation.”
