Ahead of the release of her upcoming sixth studio album, Book 1, Grimes recently graced the cover of Vanity Fair.
During the interview for the cover story, the Canadian artist was asked if there was “another baby” in her life after writer Devin Gordon hear alluding sounds in her home. Despite stating that she’s “not at liberty to speak on these things” and shifting the focus to X Æ A-12 (or simply X), her child with Elon Musk, Grimes ultimately revealed the birth of her second child with the tech icon.
Named “Exa Dark Sideræl Musk” (or simply “Y”), the two sought the help of a surrogate for the birth of their daughter. Keeping the news away from the public, Grimes noted that the name for the baby, born in December, is inspired by her favorite Lord of the Rings character, Galadriel. Adding that she “was fighting for Odysseus Musk,” as “a girl named Odysseus is my dream.”
Grimes, who now resides in Austin, Texas, then went on to discuss her relationship with Elon Musk, citing there is “no real word” to describe it. “I would probably refer to him as my boyfriend, but we’re very fluid. We live in separate houses. We’re best friends. We see each other all the time…We just have our own thing going on, and I don’t expect other people to understand it.” Ending with a note that she and Musk “always wanted” at least “three or four” children together.
