The Weeknd To Guest Star in Upcoming ‘The Simpsons’ Episode

The Weeknd is headed to Springfield for a one-episode voice acting role on The Simpsons, slated for premiere on March 20.

The Dawn FM artist, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, shared the news on Twitter by confirming a report from a fan account, writing, “proud of this one,” alongside a yellow heart emoji.

The 32-year-old artist will voice a character named Orion Hughes in The Simpsons‘ March 20 episode, titled “Bart the Cool Kid,” which will arrive as the 15th episode of the series’ 33rd season. The episode will also guest star Michael Rapport, who will voice a food truck owner named Mike Wegman.

“When Bart befriends a famous kid influencer who owns an ultra-cool skate wear brand, Homer leads a rebellion of loser dads against them,” reads the episode’s synopsis.

The Weeknd, who has previously made guest appearances in projects including Uncut GemsAmerican Dad! and Robot Chicken, previously spoke about his desire to appear in an episode of The Simpsons during an interview with Variety in 2020.

American Dad was everything I wanted,” he said. “It’s going to be hard to beat this in the TV cartoon world, but an obvious bucket list would be to work on The Simpsons. That would be a dream — and if they’re reading this, I actually have a pretty cool idea if they’re down.”

At the time of writing, there are no further details on the episode’s plot or The Weeknd’s role.
