22 Ways to Support Ukrainian Relief on Bandcamp Friday

Bandcamp Friday—the monthly occasion where the platform waives its share of revenue for 24 hours—is back. As Russia continues its violent invasion of Ukraine, many artists and labels have announced plans to donate their portions of proceeds to Ukrainian relief efforts. In addition to directly supporting Ukrainian artists and labels, see some examples of how you can support Ukrainian relief efforts in the process of buying some music.

• Polyvinyl (Jay Som, Alvvays, American Football) will be donating its share of profits to Voices of Children, an organization that provides psychological help for children affected by the war in Ukraine.
• This weekend, Sub Pop and Hardly Arty will donate $2 per album sold (in all formats in Bandcamp and their online stores) to World Central Kitchen’s Chefs for Ukraine campaign.
• Cassandra Jenkins has released a limited edition “Hard Drive” hat, with 50% of profits going to UNICEF’s Ukraine relief efforts.
• The Coathangers and Trail of Dead’s cover of Pussy Riot’s “Putin Lights Up the Fires” will benefit CARE’s Ukraine Crisis Fund. “As a refugee from Belarus with family ties in Belarus, Ukraine, and Russia the current crisis hits deep,” the Coathangers’ Julia Kugel said in a statement. “Grateful for Pussy Riot. Grateful to the superheroes of Ukraine and inspired by their courage to do the right thing. We need each other.”
• Chuck Johnson released a film score piece, composed in 2020, “Carpathia.” All funds are directed to Doctors Without Borders.
• Skee Mask has released the new album A, with earnings getting donated to humanitarian Ukraine relief organizations.
• Joyful Noise Recordings and artists on the label, including Deerhoof, Suuns, Tropical Fuck Storm, and others, will donate all proceeds to OutRight International Action and Voices of Children.
• Emily Wells is donating all proceeds from her new album Regards to the End to QUA-LGBTQ Ukrainians in America.
• Tokimonsta is donating all sales from Oasis Nocturno to UNICEF; the album celebrated its two-year anniversary this week.
• A portion of proceeds from Tonstarssbandht’s three new reissues on Fire Talk will go to three organizations: Razom for Ukraine, Revived Soldiers Ukraine, and Nova Ukraine.
• Ninja Tune is donating to Association for Ukrainians in Great Britain’s emergency fund and the United States–based organization Sunflower for Peace.
• Fat Possum (The Weather Station, Spiritualized, Dehd, Empath) and Luminelle Recordings (Magdalena Bay, Enumclaw) will donate a portion of proceeds to Nova Ukraine.
• Unsound is directing 100% of its sales to UNHCR (UN Refugee Agency). It includes the Nicolas Jaar–organized collection Weavings, which features 16 artists from around the world.
• Son Lux will donate all proceeds to World Central Kitchen, which serves meals to Ukrainian families.
• Helsinki label We Jazz Records released a 25-song benefit Music for Ukraine, with proceeds going to multiple organizations.
• Polish Songs for Ukraine is a 40-song collection benefitting the Polish Centre for International Aid to help support citizens of Ukraine.
• Loose Buttons has partnered with Ukrainian restaurant Veselka, and all profits will fund supplies for their donation drive.
• Trentemøller is donating all sales to the Red Cross to support their effort in Ukraine.
• Wharf Cat is directing all revenue to UUARC.
• Full Time Hobby (Squirrel Flower, Silverbacks) and sister label Hassle are donating all proceeds to the Red Cross.
• 100% Electronica—the label that’s released music by George Clanton, Small Black, and others—will donate 100% of its label shares to Ukrainian Orphanages.
• Yerevan-based festival Urvakan released the compilation A Collective Memoir on February 23, just ahead of the first strikes on Ukraine.  Contributors, including Perila, are from Armenia, Georgia, Russia and Ukraine. Proceeds from the compilation will benefit a humanitarian corridor organization in Ukraine and a cultural organization in Artsakh, which works with children of war.
