With Sony and Marvel Studios continuing to expand on their shared Spider-verse, Hollywood star Russell Crowe has now joined the cast of the upcoming Spider-Man spin-off Kraven the Hunter.
For now, details revolving around Crowe’s role remain scarce, but the Gladiator actor will be joining MCU veteran Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who’ll move on from his Quicksilver roles in Avengers: Age of Ultron to become the titular villain in the new film. Production is rumored to begin by March in the U.K. Most notably, it’s also not Crowe’s first appearance in the Marvel multiverse: the actor recently finished shooting Thor: Love and Thunder with Taika Waititi, where he’ll be portraying Zeus.
Kraven the Hunter will be the third Spider-Man villain Sony and Marvel have introduced in its spin-0ff universe, with Tom Hardy‘s Venom already having released two films and Jared Leto‘s Morbius arriving soon despite numerous delays. Joining the Spider-verse ensemble will soon also be Dakota Johnson in a standalone Madame Web film announced just last week.
For fans of Marvel and Sony, there’s currently no release date yet for Kraven the Hunter, so stay tuned for more updates to come.
Elsewhere in entertainment, The Batman will be premiering early at IMAX theatres.
