The 2022 BRIT Awards took place at the O2 Arena tonight, and a number of the red carpet outfits caught viewers’ eyes. One standout outfit in particular came from Irish-Bangladeshi artist Joy Crookes, who, back in 2020, wore a traditional lehenga to the awards ceremony to make a statement about the industry’s lack of South Asian artists. For the 2022 awards, the neo-soul artist wore another powerful ensemble: a crop top with matching skirt and cape made by British designers Kate Walker and Natalie Roar.
Crookes shared an image of the outfit on Instagram with the caption “came dressed like an award in case I don’t take any home tonight #BRITs,” crediting South Asian-owned brands like Byredo and Alighieri for her makeup and jewelry.
