‘Dune’ Receives 10 Oscar Nominations, Including Best Picture

Dune has received a total of 10 nominations for the 94th annual Academy Awards, which were revealed on Thursday morning.

The Warner Bros. and Legendary film will compete for best picture, best costume design, best sound, best original score, best adapted screenplay, best film editing, best makeup and hairstyling, best cinematography, best production design and best visual effects.

The Power of the Dog leads the nominees with a total of 12 nods, including best picture, best director (Jane Campion), and acting nominations for lead Benedict Cumberbatch and supporting actors Kirsten Dunst, Jesse Plemons and Kodi Smit-McPhee.

Beyoncé earned her first Oscar nomination for best original song, with “Be Alive” from King Richard. Meanwhile, Billie Eilish also received her first nod in the same category with “No Time to Die” for the Bond movie of the same moniker, alongside her brother Finneas O’Connell.

Elsewhere, Steven Spielberg has set a new record as the first person in Oscars history to receive best director nominations across six different decades, with his latest nod for West Side Story. Additionally, as a producer on the film, Spielberg has broken the record for most best picture nominations, with a total of 11 nods.

The Academy has not yet selected a host for this year’s ceremony, which is scheduled to take place on Sunday, March 27 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
