Amanda Kloots Cries While Thanking Fans For Support After Nick Cordero’s Death, Shares Family Movies

Amanda Kloots documented her late husband Broadway star Nick Cordero’s three-month battle against COVID-19, frequently posting updates about his condition and, sadly, confirming his passing over the weekend.

On Monday (July 6), she broke down in tears in an Instagram Live video while discussing the Tony-nominated star’s career highlights.

“Nick’s dream of becoming a rock star definitely happened and it’s because of you guys and your support,” Kloots said in the video, posted one day after she confirmed that Cordero had died at age 41. “There were days when I did not think I could get on social media and sing but I always felt better after I did… It always made me feel better. Singing and dancing is an amazing way to have some therapy in your life.”

While thanking fans worldwide for their support during the grueling ordeal, she added, “I was singing this song to Nick yesterday in his room and so many of the lyrics are so, just, crazy on point. ‘They’ll give you hell but don’t let them kill your light, not without a fight. Live your life,’” she said, referring to “Live Your Life,” Cordero’s 2018 single that she sang and danced to every day during his hospitalization with fans in an effort to cheer the Waitress star to recovery.

Kloots wiped away tears from under sunglasses as she spoke. “Thank you so much for the past 95 days singing with me. We played this song a lot in Nick’s room with him and we were singing to him. I kept telling him that he had the whole world singing his song, knowing who he was and what kind of an amazing person he was.”

Kloots also posted a loving tribute video created by her sister that chronicled her love story with Cordero and the painful final three months of his life. “I woke up to this video my sister made for me. She titled it, The Silver Linings,” she wrote. “I have always been lucky to have a family that loves to be together and to support each other. I’m even luckier to have Nicks family and extended family that are the same. This video captures these last 95 days. The love, the exhaustion, the bonds, the smiles, the song, the exercise, the hard work, the care, support and most of all love. They did all of this for Nick, Elvis and I- selfless time from their lives to be with us. In times of trauma, look for the silver linings. Spend time with family. Smile through the tears. Have faith when things seem impossible. Love one another.”
