T-Mobile To Begin Firing Unvaccinated Corporate Staff in April 2022

T-Mobile is the newest company to announce that it will fire its unvaccinated corporate employees starting April 2.

The company confirmed the news to Engadget, with a spokesperson stating, “T-Mobile’s badge-controlled offices continue to be accessible only to those who are vaccinated against COVID-19 and we have shared with employees that we are requiring office workers to be fully vaccinated by April 2nd.” The spokesperson continued, “We understand that this is a deeply personal decision for some employees but we believe that taking this step will put us in the best position to protect our T-Mobile community.”

According to an internal email, the company’s chief human resources officer Deeanne King stated that staff who are only half-vaccinated by February 21 will be put on unpaid leave. T-Mobile also shared to The Verge that there will be certain exemptions “for certain roles, locations and legally mandated accommodations and exemptions.” Bloomberg reported that the unpaid leave for half-vaccinated employees will not be applicable for customer service employees, while the field technicians and store employees will not need to follow the vaccine mandate.

Earlier this month, major companies such as Nike and VF Corp — the parent company of Supreme — were reportedly going to also let go of staff who are unvaccinated.

In related news, the Australian PM warned Kanye West that he will not be able to enter Australia if he is not fully vaccinated.
