Bob Dylan has sold his recorded-music catalog to Sony Music, the entertainment company announced on Monday.
The deal includes the entirety of Bob Dylan’s recorded work since 1962, which begins with his self-titled debut album, along with the rights to the artist’s future releases. The deal, which marks a sizable expansion from Sony’s previous relationship with Dylan through Columbia Records, was worth between $150 million USD and $200 million USD, according to sources via Variety. The outlet notes that the number has not yet been confirmed.

“Columbia Records and Rob Stringer have been nothing but good to me for many, many years and a whole lot of records,” said Dylan in a statement. “I’m glad that all my recordings can stay where they belong.”
Sony will continue to work with Dylan on several catalog reissues in the future as part of the artist’s Bootleg Series, which first started in 1991 and now includes 14 releases. As part of the deal, Sony will have the opportunity to work with Dylan on several other projects.
“Columbia Records has had a special relationship with Bob Dylan from the beginning of his career and we are tremendously proud and excited to be continuing to grow and evolve our ongoing 60-year partnership,” added Rob Stringer, Chairman of Sony Music Group. “Bob is one of music’s greatest icons and an artist of unrivaled genius. The essential impact he and his recordings continue to have on popular culture is second to none and we’re thrilled he will now be a permanent member of the Sony Music family.”
Elsewhere in music, The Weeknd has broken the record for most Spotify listeners.
