Cardo, the producer behind major tracks such as Drake‘s “God’s Plan,” and Kid Cudi and Travis Scott‘s “Through the Late Night,” has announced plans to release a beat tape that he and Abloh had been working on titled “OFF THE RIP.”
Following his passing, Virgil Abloh‘s diverse range of work, including his Louis Vuitton’s Fall/Winter 2022 collection, LV x Nike Air Force 1’s, and electric Maybach designs, continue to carry his legacy into the future.
One of the lesser-emphasized spheres Abloh was involved in was music. He was often seen behind the turntables and has appeared on the biggest stages, including Coachella.

Abloh had a DJ residency at XS nightclub, opened at shows around the world, and collaborated with artist George Condo to launch “Watercolor” Jazz Hours, a series of live Youtube DJ sets in response to the pandemic. Abloh was also famously the album art designer for Ye‘s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, A$AP Rocky‘s Long.Live.A$AP, Pop Smoke’s Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon, and more.
While Abloh has a number of tracks and remixes to his name already, including ORVNGE with Boyz Noize, and more recently Delicate Limbs featuring serpentwithfeat, the Cardo beat tape suggests a shift away from Abloh’s usual house/electronic productions to one of his first hip-hop/rap releases as a primary artist.
Me and Virgil was working on a beat tape called “OFF THE RIP” … still coming. Has to.
