Hollywood funnyman Bob Saget was found dead in his hotel room at the Ritz-Carlton Orlando in Grande Lakes, Florida earlier this month.
Saget was best known as “America’s Dad,” especially after his role as the titular character Danny Tanner in the popular late ’80s sitcom, Full House. While the show was still happening, Saget signed on to be the ABC comedy show, America’s Funniest Home Videos‘ host. The current host of the show. Alfonso Ribeiro began the full tribute to the actor with an emotional message, before rolling a clip of highlights of some of Saget’s best moments as the host ofAmerica’s Funniest Home Videos.
Saget remains as the longest-running MC on the show. He first hosted the AFV from 1989 to 1997 but later left the show and was replaced by John Fugelsang and Daisy Fuentes for two seasons. Saget started his hosting gig around the same time as Full House. Upon hearing about his death, the cast wrote, “Thirty-five years ago, we came together as a TV family, but we became a real family. And now we grieve as a family. Bob made us laugh until we cried. Now our tears flow in sadness, but also with gratitude for all the beautiful memories of our sweet, kind, hilarious, cherished Bob. He was a brother to us guys, a father to us girls and a friend to all of us. Bob, we love you dearly. We ask in Bob’s honor, hug the people you love. No one gave better hugs than Bob.”
