Netflix has shared a new trailer for its upcoming limited series Inventing Anna about convicted con artist Anna Delvey.
Born Anna Sorokin, Delvey postured as a German heiress between 2013 and 2017 in order to defraud hotels, banks and fellow socialites in New York City. In 2019, she was found guilty of eight charges, including grand larceny, and sentenced to four to 12 years in state prison.
Created and co-penned by Shonda Rhimes, the nine-episode series is based on an investigative New York magazine article by Jessica Pressler, titled “How an Aspiring ‘It’ Girl Tricked New York’s Party People — and its Banks.” Pressler also served as the producer for the show.
Delvey is portrayed by Ozark’s Julia Garner. Anna Chlumsky, who starred in the 1991 classic My Girl as a child, plays Vivian, a journalist investigating Delvey’s case.
“You have to work hard to get what you want,” Delvey tells Vivian in one clip, cut with scenes of her discussing plans to build out a $40 million USD VIP club.
Inventing Anna premieres on Netflix on February 15.
In other entertainment news, a comic with the first appearance of Superman sold for $3.18 million USD.
