Muse have returned with their first song in four years. It’s called “Won’t Stand Down” and it comes with a music video directed by Jared Hogan. In the clip, a weak figure siphons the energy of an army to transform into a towering, demon-like being. Check it out below.
“‘Won’t Stand Down’ is a song about standing your ground against bullies, whether that be on the playground, at work, or anywhere,” singer Matt Bellamy explained in a statement. “Protecting yourself from coercion and sociopathic manipulation and to face adversity with strength, confidence, and aggression.”
Muse’s last album, Simulation Theory, came out in 2018. Since then, the UK rock band has released a concert and narrative film as a companion project to the LP, an Origin of Muse box set celebrating the 20th anniversary of debut album Showbiz, and a full-album remix of their classic 2001 album Origin of Symmetry.
