Just a week after Antonio Brown‘s on-field incident that led to the wide receiver storming off in the middle of the game against the New York Jets, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have officially terminated his contract.
In a recent Tweet, Brown shared screenshots of his text messages between himself and Coach Bruce Arians. The conversation appeared to be before his viral exit from the match and showed that the coach knew about the ankle injury he suffered in Week 6. The screenshot showed that Brown told the coach that he was unsure if he could get up to “full speed” with recovery, but that Arians was adamant on him playing, “This is BA. Make sure your ready to go tomorrow. We ARE NOT resting for the playoffs.”
Brown also took to Twitter in a separate Tweet to confirm that his issue is with Arians and not his teammates, “Don’t get it twisted. My brothers have been good to me. From Tom to [the] practice squad, we were a top-level unit.”
ESPN reported that effective immediately, the team is releasing Antonio Brown. The official statement is as follows:
“While Antonio did receive treatment on his ankle and was listed on the injury report the week leading up to last Sunday’s game, he was cleared to play by our medical team prior to the start of the game and at no point during the game did he indicate to our medical personnel that he could not play.
We have attempted, multiple times throughout this week, to schedule an evaluation by an outside orthopedic specialist, yet Antonio has not complied. Maintaining the health and wellness of our players is of the utmost importance to our organization.”
The NFL has declined to comment on whether or not they will investigate Browns’ claims.

Don’t get it twisted. My brothers have been good to me. From Tom to practice squad, we were a top-level unit. They have been good to me and knew nothing about my talks with coach last week. The team mishandled this situation. They let me down and, more importantly, my teammates.
