BoJack Horseman and Arrested Development star Will Arnett will now replace Armie Hammer in Taika Waititi’s upcoming Searchlight Pictures comedy Next Goal Wins.
The new casting decision comes following several sexual assault allegations that were lodged against the Call Me By Your Name actor, who has denied all of them. Though the LAPD is currently investigating these accusations, Hammer has already been dropped by his agents at WME as well as from a number of films he was working on, including Jennifer Lopez‘s Shotgun Wedding, the Godfather television series at Paramount+, and the Broadway spectacle The Minutes.
As for Next Goal Wins, the upcoming football comedy will be helmed by Thor: Ragnarok veteran Waititi and is based on a British documentary of the same name from 2014. The documentary follows the underdog story of the American Samoa football team, which went from a group of amateurs into a squad that managed to qualify for the FIFA World Cup. Arnett will be portraying the role of a football executive at the Football Federation American Samoa.
There’s currently no release date yet for Next Goal Wins, so Waititi and Arnett fans should be on the lookout for more news to come.
Elsewhere in entertainment, Black Adam‘s producer says there are plans for more than one film.
