Dave Filoni Is Having a “Thrilling” Time Writing ‘Ahsoka’

Dave Filoni Is Having a “Thrilling” Time Writing ‘Ahsoka’

The massive success of The Mandalorian on Disney+ has led to both Boba Fett and Ahsoka Tano receiving their own respective series, and now the show’s creator Dave Filoni has updated fans on the writing process behind the Rosario Dawson-starring show.

“It’s thrilling, I got to tell you,” Filoni told Empire. “It’s something you imagine doing for a long time. And then it’s kind of startling when you’re sitting there, and now you have to do it.”

“I thought of this adventure for Ahsoka for a long time, and it’s interesting to see how it’s evolved,” he added. “Years ago, I never would have imagined that it was sprung from a branch of a tree that had anything to do with a guy [like] Din Djarin, or a child that looks like Yoda. It’s a great lesson for me on how, when you have other creatives like Jon Favreau, they can help lend such dimension and depth to what you’re doing.”

Details revolving around Ahsoka remain scarce at the moment, but we do know that it’ll follow the beloved character during her exile roughly five years after the events of The Return of the Jedi. Most excitingly, Hayden Christensen will be returning to the franchise as Anakin/Darth Vader for the show as well as the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series, which also brings back Ewan McGregor.

There’s currently no release date yet for Ahsoka, but the series will hit Disney+ sometime in 2022.

Elsewhere in entertainment, Spider-Man actor Michael Keaton has confirmed he’ll be returning as the Vulture.
