Blade Runner director Ridley Scott has officially confirmed that a TV series based on sci-fi film is currently in progress. In addition, he is also working on bringing Alien into a live-action show, as well.
In a recent interview on BBC Radio, Scott revealed, “We [have already] written the pilot for Blade Runner and the bible. So, we’re already presenting Blade Runner as a TV show, the first 10 hours.” He added that Alien is set to also receive a “similar” treatment and according to Variety, “a pilot is being written along with a bible of what transpires in 8-10 hours of the show.”
Scott had never discussed the possibility of a Blade Runner TV show until now. Earlier this month, an anime series based on the film titled, Blade Runner: Black Lotus premiered on Adult Swim. The original Blade Runner film which was set in dystopian future of Los Angeles in 2019, was released in 1982 and starred Harrison Ford.
Watch Scott discuss the upcoming TV show below. It is expected that the series will not release until 2023.
