Delroy Lindo has officially joined the cast of Marvel Studios and Bassam Tariq’s Blade.
While Lindo’s role is unconfirmed as of writing, Variety reports that the he could possibly be playing Jamal Afari, a former vampire hunter from Harlem who raised Eric Brooks/Blade and taught him the ways of vampire hunting.
The 69-year-old actor recently appeared in the JAY-Z-produced Netflix Western The Harder They Fall as Bass Reeves and Spike Lee‘s Da 5 Bloods. He will star alongside Mahershala Ali in Blade, while Stacy Osei-Kuffour will pen the script. A release date is yet to be announced, however filming is expected to begin in 2022 and is projected to hit theaters in fall 2023. Ali made his first ever voice-only appearance as Blade in a post-credits scene in Eternals, where he was heard speaking to Kit Harington’s Dane Whitman.
In related news, Wesley Snipes revealed that he feels “no emotional loss” over Blade being recast.
