Last we heard of James Jean, he was overlaying his art on a Koenigsegg Agera RS — one of the world’s fastest road cars. You may not be able to afford the whopping $4.1m USD price tag for the hypercar, but the Taiwanese-American visual artist will release a far more accessible print for those looking to collect.
Hound II emits a melancholic vibe, as a dowager is depicted prominently in the center of the artwork, floating in front of the surrounding landscape. “As memories of the past flow through her qipao, expressive ink washes create apparitions of distant mountain ranges. Electric orange hues vibrate in the gloom,” stated Jean on the work.
Sizing at roughly 22-inches high, Hound II is meticulously finished — from sculptural glass-like details to crystalline finishes and intricate foil linework. The limited-edition print is signed and numbered by the artist and will drop for $500 USD via Jean’s webshop for 24 hours starting on November 22 at 8:00 AM PST.
