David Shrigley has released a new ceramic teapot just in time for the holiday season.
THE TEA IS ALIVE is handmade in England using a traditional method of fine bone china production. The process beings by pouring liquid clay into a bespoke mold for shape, then the object goes through 20 different hand processes and three firings in a kiln. The result is a unique sculptural work that is great for daily use or as an art piece.
Staying true to his penchant for humor, the teapot is overlaid with a whimsical note from Shrigley: “THE TEA IS ALIVE / IT WILL LIVE INSIDE YOU.” The teapot can hold up to 800ml at a given time, which equates to roughly four mugs. Due to the molding process, each of the 999 sculptures is unique and comes packaged in a sleek black and white presentation box.
THE TEA IS ALIVE is available to preorder for €295.00 EUR / $1466.28 USD via the Shrig Shop. Items come with free express shipping and will deliver by the second week of December.
In other art news, Matt McCormick has released a new set of drawings with Tappan Collective.
