The six-year-old was last seen finishing third in a Grade 1 hurdle at Aintree in the spring and he won first time out last term. The ground should be slow enough for him – he was runner-up at 40-1 in the Albert Bartlett on officially good to soft going – and he can be supported at 9-4 in the SpreadEx fixed odds betting or bought at 25 in the 50-25-10 market.

As expected, Brennan took the outside route on his mounts yesterday, looking for the better ground, and it will be disappointing if he can’t steer Fergal O’Brien’s five-year-old into the frame on his Rules debut.
