Carly Pearce Files for Divorce From Michael Ray After 8 Months of Marriage

Carly Pearce and Michael Ray have called it a quits after eight months of marriage as Pearce just filed for divorce, a rep confirmed to Billboard.

People originally broke the story today (June 22). “This was a hard decision. It wasn’t something she wanted to have to do,” a source close to Pearce told People. “This hasn’t been a quarantine realization — it was a last resort.”

The “Her World or Mine” singer told People earlier that the couple split their time during the COVID-19 pandemic between their Nashville home and their families’ homes. He even quarantined with Pearce in her parents’ coastal Alabama house for a month. But Ray also admitted that despite all the rest the two were getting, they felt restless with all the time on their hands since coming off their respective tours.

The country music couple tied the knot on Oct. 6, 2019, at Tennessee’s Drakewood Farm in front of about 100 family members and friends after making their relationship debut on the 2018 CMA Awards red carpet. One month after their picture-perfect moment, Ray proposed during a family vacation in Tulum, Mexico. But fans sensed there might have been trouble in paradise because of their dwindling social media posts together, with the two posting birthday tributes for one another in late April.

They made their last public appearance on June 6 for a livestream concert at Nashville’s empty Grand Ole Opry, where their mutual love of the popular country music stage concert first brought them together, that also featured Steve Wariner and Lee Brice, who sang with Pearce on their No. 1 single “I Hope You’re Happy Now.”

The day before the Grand Ole Opry performance, Pearce appeared on Kaitlyn Bristowe’s Off the Vine podcast and talked about how being in the country music business with her husband helped their marriage.

“We both grew up the same way of wanting to do this for a living and grew up loving the same kind of music,” the “Every Little Thing” singer said during the interview. “He loves the classic country and bluegrass, and he loves like the real, the Opry and all of those elements. So I think our hearts are kind of like, they bleed the same way, if that makes sense.”

The country stars have yet to publicly comment on the divorce news.
