Dwayne Johnson is now reuniting with Jumanji director Jake Kasdan to create a new holiday special for Amazon.
Tentatively titled Red One, the film casts Johnson as the lead, and will possibly see him portray Santa Claus himself. The story was created by Seven Bucks Productions‘ Hiram Garcia, who will also produce alongside the studio’s Dany Garcia and Johnson. The script is currently being written by Chris Morgan, who has previously worked with the prolific actor in numerous other projects including all four of his Fast and Furious appearances as well as the spin-off Hobbs & Shaw.
According to Amazon, the film will be “a globe-trotting, four-quadrant action-adventure comedy, imagining a whole new universe to explore within the holiday genre.” Other details revolving around the project remain scarce at this point, so fans of Johnson should definitely stay tuned for more updates to come. Production will commence in 2022 with a release date aimed at the holiday season for 2023.
Elsewhere in entertainment, Jake Gyllenhaal has joined Guy Ritchie’s upcoming The Interpreter.
